Since its establishment on 22 August 1992 (22 Safar 1413 AH), the Centre for Islamic Economics (CIE) has been committed to developing skilled Shariah scholars and banking professionals who can contribute to the transition from conventional interest-based banking towards a financial system founded on Islamic principles. Its core objective is to equip individuals with the knowledge and expertise required to support the practical application of Islamic finance.
By the grace of Allah Almighty, CIE has made meaningful progress in advancing awareness of Islamic financial principles among business professionals, banking institutions, and other stakeholders. This growing understanding has encouraged greater interest in developing and offering financial products that comply with Shariah requirements across the banking, trade, and commercial sectors.
CIE's work has also attracted interest beyond Pakistan. International organizations have approached the institution for specialized training programmes designed to meet the professional development needs of their employees. In addition, participants from overseas institutions have visited Pakistan to attend courses organized specifically for them. These developments reflect the importance of specialized Islamic finance education and the confidence placed in CIE's efforts to deliver it. The institution remains committed to strengthening its educational programmes and expanding their practical impact.
I sincerely hope that students who complete these programmes will apply their learning responsibly and effectively within their respective institutions. With sound knowledge of Islamic financial principles and their practical applications, they can contribute to the development of Shariah-compliant financial services and help advance the wider objective of establishing a more equitable, interest-free economic system.
